This tour is specially prepared to present the best of the great Sikhs shrines in the region. It will be relevant to quote Mahatma Gandhi as follows, when he wrote about this “Historically Punjab may be considered the most important province of India. It was here that the Aryans of the Vedic times first made their homes. It was here that the hymns of the Rig Veda were chanted. It was to this province at the University of Takshila that seekers after knowledge flocked from various parts of the world. The Scythians , the Tartars and the Persians had to measure sword with the sons of Punjab in their attempt to penetrate India.”

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 01: Delhi
Arrive Delhi and transfer to hotel. Check in time 1200 hours. Afternoon half day visit to Gurudwara Sisganj. Gurudwara Bangla sahib and Gurudwara Rakabganj. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Delhi
Breakfast at hotel followed by full day sightseeing tour of Old Delhi and New Delhi visiting Chandni Chowk, Jamma Masjid, the Red Fort – the symbol of Moghul power and elegance built in red sand stone , The Raj Ghat, India Gate – the country’s memorial to the Unknown Soldier ; and Qutab Minar Overnight at hotel

Day 03:Delhi/Chandigarh/Parivar Vichhora / Anandpur Sahib /  Amritsar

After early breakfast transfer to railway station to board train for Chandigarh. On arrival you will be met and proceed by road to visit Parivar Vichorra ( 52 kms/02 hrs ) and drive to Anandpur Sahib ( 30 kms/01 hr ) – fortress temple situated on the left bank of the river Sutlej founded by the ninth Sikh guru , Guru Tegh Bahadur. It was here that the Sikh religion acquired its final military character. After the visit drive onward to Amritsar.

Amritsar – situated on the north – western border of the country. The 400 years old city , founded by the fourth guru of the Sikhs , Guru Ramdas , has been the seat of the Sikh religion and culture from its very inception. It is renowned for the famous Golden Temple. Amritsar , literally – ‘Pool of Nectar’ , derives its name from the holy pond around the temple. The land for the pool was gifted by the Moghul Emperor Akbar. Check in at hotel on arrival.

Day 04: Amritsar

Morning excursion of Tarn Tarn ( 22 kms/45 minutes ) , famous for a gurudwara standing on the side of a large tank and built in honour of Guru Arjun Dev. Proceed to Gobindwal ( 23 kms /30 minutes ) , a short run from Tarn Taran , connected to the memory of Guru Amardas who lived there. A gurudwara built by the Guruji still stands there. Continue onto Hazoor Sahib (10 kms/15 minutes ) ,where the Samadhi ( memorial ) of the second Sikh guru , Guru Angad Dev ji , was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1815. Return to Amritsar for lunch break

Afternoon visit the Golden Temple – built in the midst of the holy pool by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1803 , it is also known as Darbar Sahib or Har mandir Sahib. The dome of the temple is covered with an estimated 400 kgs of gold leaf , hence its popular name the ‘Golden Temple’. The interiors of the temple , like – wise , decorated by inlay work with delicate floral patterns are done with semi precious stones. Adjoining the pool is Akal Takht , established by the sixth Sikh guru , Guru Hargobind Singh. It is seat of the supreme head of the Sikh religious authority. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05: Amritsar – Bhatinda – Damdama Saheb.

  • Breakfast at hotel.
  • Depart for a full day trip to Damdama Saheb near Bhatinda.
  • Return to the hotel in the evening
  • Overnight at hotel

Day 06: Amritsar / Jalianwala Bagh / Wagah Border / Amritsar

  • Morning visit Jailianwala Bagh ( 24 kms/45 minutes ) , the historic site where hundreds of innocent Indian men, women and children were massacred by British General Michael Dyer on April 13 , 1919.   
  • Proceed to Baba Bakala ( 21 kms/45 minutes ) , a place associated with the ninth Sikh guru , Shri Tegh Bahadur, having a magnificent gurudwara where people gather in thousands on every Amavas.
  • Evening proceed to see the change of guards at the Wagah border.
    Return to hotel .
  • Overnight at hotel.

Day 07: Amritsar / Delhi/Aurangabad

After breakfast transfer to airport to board flight for Delhi.
On arrival in Delhi assistance to connect flight to Aurangabad.
Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

Day 08: Aurangabad

Full day excursion to Ajanta Caves after breakfast Ajanta Caves are famous for Buddhist cave Temples and monasteries dating from 200 BC to 650 AD. The caves here are renowned chiefly for their magnificent wall Paintings depicting scene from the life of the Buddha.
Return to hotel in the evening for overnight stay.

Day 09: Aurangabad

  • Morning after breakfast depart for sightseeing of Ellora Caves where there are  34  Caves (16 Hindu, 13 Buddhist and 5 Jain) constructed between the 5th and 8th centuries AD. Ellora caves are famous for its
  • sculpture and carvings.
  • Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at hotel

Day 10: Aurangabad

Early morning after breakfast depart for Nanded by road. ( 230 kms.- 5 hours )  The Takht Sachkhand Shri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib is the main Gurudwara of Nanded and is one of the four High seats of Authority of the sikhs. This is the place where Shri GuruGobind Singhji breathed his last. The Gurudwara is situated in Nanded Town. The Gurudwara was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singhji, The great Ruler of Punjab between 1830 to 1839 A.D. Inside the Gurudwara, which contains the mortal remains of the 10th Guru, there are exhibited a number of weapons of various kinds.

Return to hotel. Overnight stay at hotel

Day 11: Aurangabad – Mumbai

Transfer to airport for connecting flight to Mumbai . On arrival in Mumbai transfer to Hotel. Afternoon sightseeing of Mumbai city driving around the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Haji Ali, Crawford Market, Victoria Terminus and halting at the Mani Bhavan – the home of Mahatma Gandhi in Mumbai and the Dhobi Ghat.

Overnight at hotel

Day 12 – Mumbai – U.S.A/Canada

Transfer to the International airport in time to connect flight to home.
